United Arab Emirates, a famous Arab nation in the Gulf has been a working base for many community members hailing from coastal Karnataka and Mumbai. The recent surge in migrants belonging to devadiga community to this region is a welcome sign and it becomes imperative that this group of vibrant youths must know their seniors who have carved a niche in this land of of opportunities. In this direction, I am delighted to introduce one of my most admired professional, Narayana Devadiga, who has passionately worked his way towards senior management position and now is in helm of affairs of a leading civil construction major of Dubai. Narayan Muthaya Devadiga is a Mumbai educated and trained civil engineer who once an ebullient party man has in the last few years has silently transformed in to a workaholic and complete family man . In those initial years we devadiga fellows used to party a lot…….which has now declined as we the senior bunch are getting older and wiser!

Man of few words but eloquent in his views, Narayan migrated to Dubai in 1989 to take up an assignment as Senior Engineer and later took up position as Project Manager in Al Basti & EMuktha LLC, a well-known civil engineering enterprise. Due to his efficient quality of work and managerial skills he earned well deserved series of promotions and is now serving as General Manager (Projects) since last few years. His prestigious projects include, The Dubai Jewel Tower, Green Lake Residential Towers, Golf Towers, 1051 Residential Villas in Arabian Ranches and Luxury villas at Nad Al Shiba. The value of these projects range from Dhs. 200 million to Dhs.1000 million & more. Narayan Devadiga was born on 20th Oct 1955 to Sri Mutthaya K Devadiga & Smt Meenakshi Muthaya Devadiga, in Kaup and he graduated in Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Bombay University in 1979. He worked in Mumbai from 1979 to 1988 before coming to Dubai. In Mumbai, he worked for M/s. Maharashtra Irrigation Department as Junior Engineer, M/s. Gherzi Eastern Ltd. , and M/s. Rokadia Civil Engineering Pvt. Ltd. While working in Gherzi Eastern Ltd., he got the opportunity to undertake projects in Assam (1986-1987 ), Nepal (1984-1986) and Sri Lanka(1981-1983). In those years, our community could boost of only few professionals and hence marriage bells rang sooner in the life of this successful Engineer in 1984 when he married Mallika daughter of a well-known hotelier Manjunath Devadiga proprietor of Mallika Bar & Restaurant, Malad, Mumbai. The pleasant natured couple is blessed with two talented daughters; Shruti Devadiga (3rd year Interior Architecture student at American University of Sharjah) and Shikha Devadiga who is in Collegian in Dubai.

Both Narayan and Mallika are very lively, hospitable and helpful in nature and are enthusiastic community development oriented couple. Lately, Mr.Naryana devadiga travels extensively to India and other countries to recruit civil engineering professionals as his company has huge projects in New Dubai. Besides hectic work schedule and travel, Narayan makes time to pursue his hobbies which include playing cricket, traveling and listening to old Hindi classic music. He actively participates in the community development projects and has been the host for many devadiga volunteers who visit Emirates for service works. He is one of the prominent Devadiga who donated more than a Lakh Rupees for the Building project undertaken by Mumbai Sangha.
