Udupi Raghava Sherigar popularly known as Raghu Sherigar  started his career in the year 1967 in a construction company.  Later he  left his hometown Udupi In search of his fortune and landed in Panjim, Goa. There he worked in various companies which ventured into Agriculture Equipments, Automobiles and  Power Tillers. After working in Goa for about 5 years he came back to Udupi and joined an  Apparel Manufacturing Unit at Manipal as a store keeper. With his hard work and integrity he grew to the position of manager in a span of two years.  In the year 1981 he came to Bangalore to join a reputed Garment Industry M/s. Gokaldas Exports ltd. Which was one of the leading exporters of Ready made garments in India.  He worked there for more than a decade as a General  Manager ( Production).

In the year 1993 he started a Readymade Garments Manufacturing and Exports Unit with association and guidance of Mr Shivanand Shetty from Mumbai. He served as a  MANAGING DIRECTOR of  M/s. MANIPAL APPARELS  PVT  LTD.,

His journey in life from “no where” to “who is who” in the community is itself a  education and role model to the younger generation. Born to Late Shri. Malinga Sherigar and  Smt Seshi Sherigarthi  on 16^th July, 1952 and  youngest among the siblings – Late Muddu Devadiga,  Shri. Sommappa Devadiga and sister Smt…Radha.  He is happily married to Smt. Shantha Raghu who is working for Canara Bank and are the proud parents of two Sons. Mr. Shreyas (Completed master degree in Telecommunications from La-trobe University in Melbourne, Australia ) and currently working for Accenture in Perth. Younger son  Mr. Shirish after completion of graduation is now  working for an Advertising Agency in Bangalore.

Raghu Sherigar  is also involved in many social activities, a few to name is Prerana Resource Centre, Bangalore a rehabilitation centre and home for 120 blind and physically disabled women.  He is also one of the Founder Trustees for Mangala Institute of Management Studies – A initiative of Devadiga Sangha, Bangalore. Presently he is a trustee in D.K.S.Charitable trust and a governing council member for Global Institute of Management Studies in Bangalore. He shouldered the responsibility as General Secretary of Devadiga Sangha, Bangalore at a very critical time from 1997 till 2007. Now Bangalore Sangha is proposing to construct a New Building under his  leadership as President of the Sangha.

He likes reading Books on all the subjects, especially Novels, dramas, Personality Development etc., He also likes watching and acting in dramas.  This inspired him to be associated with Kannada Sangha in Panjim way back during 1972 to 1977.  We were also proud to have him in our “Vidhya Dhare” Seminar,  first of its kind organized in Devadiga Community  in 2010 at  Visvesvaraya  Technological University, Bangalore where he shared his knowledge and success with the young generation.  Not to mention, that many youngsters will aspire to have a conversation with him.

Currently he is busy venturing into a chain of Restaurants  under the Brand name “Shiv Bhoj” in Bangalore.
