Rohan P. Kanay - First Devadiga to pass Indian Civil Services Exam - 7/24/2009
Devadiga JyothiShri Rohan P. Kanay is B.E. in Computer Science and the first Devadiga to pass Indian Civil Services Exam conducted by U.P.S.C. He stood 377th rank in all India level among 3.5 Lakhs candidates appeared for the Examination.

malathi moilyNateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir presented a Bharata Natyam recital by Deeksha Devadiga at the Karnataka Sangha Auditorium on 29.5.2009. Deeksha is the disciple of accomplished Bharata Natyam exponent, Guru Chaya Khanvate and revealed considerable command over the essentials of Bharata Natyam.

Deeksha started training at a tender age. Slim and trim she is a little package that really surprises any one.
Deeksha is the daughter of Mr. Laxman Devadiga and Mrs. Geeta L Devadiga. She has actively participated in Natyanjali Dance Festival Celebrate Bandra, Shivali Festiva Neitya Srabhi Dance Festival for upcoming artists and various shows conducted by her guru.
Her other hobbies include reading, drawing and basket ball.

Mumbai: In a recently held function Devadiga Sangha Mumbai felicitated Miss.Jyothi.K.Devadiga for the rare distinction she achieved by obtaining 1st Rank in M.A ( Kannada) of Mumbai University.
President Mr.K.Mohandas Attavar felicitated and lauded the efforts of Kumari Jyothi and wished he more glories success in future.

Jyothi Devadiga who now is a native of Mumbai hails from village Bijoor of Udupi Dist.Karnataka.
Jyothi born on 25th Nov 1985 is the daughter of Late Kuppayya Devadiga and Smt.Devi Devadiga of Belagall Katte House in Bijoor of Kundapur Taluk. She has two elders and two elder sisters.
She had her earlier education up to SSLC at Bijoor and later compelted her graduation at Govt. 1st Grade College, Byndoor. After migrating to Mumbai she took up MA (in Kannada) of Mumbai University and passed in April 2008 with First Rank
She actively participates in the activities of Kannada Department activities and she is curretnly seeking admission for M.Phil/Ph.D

Doha December 6, 2008: One of the most prominent couples among the Indian Community at Qatar, hailing from Mangalore Mr. Vaman Maroly and his wife Mrs. Veni Maroly were honored today by Tulu Koota Qatar for their outstanding contribution for the Indian Community in Qatar.
The couple who served the community since last 30 years at Qatar are leaving shortly for good. Mr. Vaman Maroly was the founder president of Tulu Koota Qatar. He was also the founder member of Ideal Indian School, Indian Cultural Center, ICBF and the life member of Karnataka Sangha Qatar. Mrs. Veni Maroly has served as the General Secretary of Indian Women’s Association, past president of Prabhaha, a socio-cultural organization, served in different position at ICBF, active member of Tulu Koota Qatar and Karnataka Sangha Qatar.
The farewell function was addressed by the President of Tulu Koota Qatar Mr. Ravi Shetty. Mr. Shetty welcomed the gathering and gave a brief introduction of the couple and their dedication towards Indian society.

Mrs. Veni Maroly and Mr. Vaman Maroly addressed the gathering and thanked all the tulu community members for their support, encouragements and love shown towards them all these years in their service to the community.
Mr. Prakash Ajila and Mr. Divakar Poojary felicitated the couple on behalf of Koota while Mr. Syed Abdul Hye presented a memento. Mr. Rajshekhar compered the event, and Mr. Vivian D’ Souza, the Joint Secretary of the Koota proposed vote of thanks.

Kannada Sangha Bahrain honours B.G.Mohandas. - 11/20/2008
Bahrain: During the recently held grand & glittering programme ‘Kannada Vaibhava’ the Sangha honoured the veteran Kannada activist and former President of Karnataka Sangha Dubai B.G.Mohandas for his two decades of community service in the Gulf.
The mega event held on 14th Nov was very special as the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka B.S.Yediyurappa and his high profile delegation were the prominent invitees.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister who was the Chief Guest felicitated B.G.Mohandas in a traditional way in front of huge crowd of Kannadigas who participated actively in this historic Kannada Vaibhava event.

The Chief Guest Dr. K.V. Devadiga, was accompanied by Mr. Harish Sherigar, Managing Director, ACME Building materials, Dubai, Dr. B.R. Shetty, CEO/Chairman of NMC Group and Patron of U.A.E. Kannadigas. Mr. Gooliyatti Shekar, Minister, Karnataka Textile/Sports & Youth Welfare graced the occasion with his presence.

Dr. K.V. Devadiga, is an eminent Neuro surgeon and a Rajyotsava Prashasti recipient for the year 2007. He is M.B.B.S, M.Ch.(Neuro), F.I.C.A, F.A.C.S, F.I.C.S, F.I.A.M.S, M.C.N.S.(U.S.A), F.R.S.M. (LOND). He married Ms. Kusuma and has three daughters, Chethana, Kalpana & Bhavana. He is also renowned as the First Kannadiga Neurosurgeon of the Karnataka State; He has established the First Neuro Centre in MANIPAL in 1968, catering to the needs of patients from the Coastal Belt including Karnataka, Kerala, Goa and Interior Districts of Coorg, Hassan, Chickmagalur and Belgaum. He is the second senior most practicing Neurosurgeon of Karnataka after Professor Varma. He was the recipient of Karnataka Rajyothsava Award 2007 for his contribution in the medical field. He is the member of dozens of renowned national and international colleges and has published about 80 Scientific Papers in National and International Journals.
He has served in many hospitals starting from G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi in the year 1965, and later on moved to Mangalore and rendered his service in various hospitals. He is currently a leading Consultant Neurosurgeon of Mangalore, Chairman of Institute of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Ltd. Mangalore, President IMA Medical Trust, and Honorary Chairman, Building Committee, Devadiga Samaja Bhavana.
Dr. Devadiga is a very close friend of Dr. B.R. Shetty for more than four decades and he was very excited to meet him here in Abu Dhabi UAE. Dr. Shetty narrated one incident where the dedication of Dr. Devadiga saved the lives of accident victims many years ago in Udupi. Dr. B.R. Shetty then felicitated Dr. K.V. Devadiga with a Shawl, fruit basket and flowers. He also offered flowers bouquet to all the special guests Mr. Gooliyatti Shekar, Mr. Ganesha Rao, Mr. Govindraj, Mr. M.K. Shetty’s noble deeds and simplicity in his lifestyle that has helped him become what he is today. He thanked Dr. Shetty profusely for inviting him to Abu Dhabi and also expressed his gratitude to all the guests present on this occasion. He thanked everyone for this gesture that made him feel elated and truly honoured. I am proud to be a Kannadiga among U.A.E. Kannadigas he added.
Mr. Sarvotham Shetty, thanked all the guests and highlighted Dr. B.R. Shetty’s love for the Indian Community residing in UAE. He donated two million Dirhams towards Indian Social Centre (ISC) new building and highlighted the role he had played in erecting the Cricket Stadium of Abu Dhabi.
A sumptuous buffet dinner was arranged at the venue and the function concluded at 9:30pm.

M.Ganesh promoted as the Superintendent of Police - 6/14/2008

Mr.M.Ganesh a well-known community member and a decorated Police officer have been promoted as Superintendent of Police recently.
It may be recalled that he has been awarded the Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for the year 2005-2006 in recognition to his exemplary and meritorious service in the police department. The gold medal was presented by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on April 2.
He continued to prove his efficient service to the people your sincerity and honored their confidence bestowed upon you, which elevated you to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police in Mysore.
Ganesh is a native of Mangalore and is the son of late Babu and Krishnabai Devadiga. Ganesh had his primary education in UBMC BEM School and degree from Mahaveer College, Moodabidri.He joined the police department in 1971 and while working in different regions had earned the nickname “Tiger Ganesh.”

Recently Asha Marnad was in Dubai as a part of Lakumi group’s twin drama presentation for Nama Tulver UAE which was hosted to packed house on 23rd May at the Sheik Rashid Audiorim Dubai.
