Miss.G.Vaasanthi, an accomplished athlete bags the Karnataka State's top sports honour "Ekalavya Prashasti" for the year 2001. The award was announced recently by the State's Dept. of Youth Services & Sports on 1st Dec 2003. She is presently working at LIC Of India Udupi. Dr. Harin S. Ullal (right), National Center for Photovoltaics, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO USA and Dr. Peter V. Meyer, V.P., Technology, First Solar, Perrysburg, OH USA were part of the team that were one of the winners at the 41st R&D Awards Ceremony held at the Navy Pier, Chicago, IL , USA ; October 16, 2003. The award was presented for the technology development entitled, "High Rate Vapor Transport Deposition for Thin Film CdTe P hotovoltaics". Mr. Vinayak Rajeev was awarded a Trophy for the II place in the Comfest (Commerce Festival) organised by Christ College Bangalore held during 27th August to 4th Sep 2003, for the Stock Game performed by him. He is studying in Ist B.Com CA at St. Allosious College Mangalore. He is the son of Mrs and Mr. Prabhakar Rajeev, Manager, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi.We congratulate Mr. Vinayak on this achievement.

Mr.Sanjeeva Devadiga received the 'District Award' by Bharatha Sevadal recently. He was also awarded best 'Band set trainer' in the Dist Independence Day 2003 parade of Udupi Dist. In 2001 he received 'best teacher' award, State award for being the Best Scientific organiser. He is the teacher at Sanoor, Karkala. We wish him many more laurels.

On 12th Jan.2004 a Biography of Mr.Veerappa Moily, the book entitled "WHERE THE MIND IS WITHOUT FEAR " was released. It was a grand function at Raveendra Kala Kshetra, Bangalore. The fuction was presided by Prof Sheik Ali former Vice Chancellor of Mangalore and Goa Universitis. Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Jagannath Shetty, and eminent scholar Sheshgiri Rao spoke about acheivements of Shri Veerappa Moily. Shri Veerappa Moily spoke about his early life , the difficulties he had encountered during his long journey in his carrier . He thanked the authors of the book Dr.H.P.Shasdhidhara Murthy and C.Paul Verghese. Incidentally 12th January happens to Shri Veerappa Moil's birth day (64th birth day) . Mr.Moily inspired and made known  our community all over the world with his towering, intelectual personality. We are always grateful to him.
