The believers propagate & even claim that Sri Eknatheswari Devi’ as Devadigara devi or Devadiga community’s ‘Kuladevata ‘ – Family God.

We in though respect the faith & belief of this group;  would like to promote  healthy explorations & discussions on these subjects and would like to bring to perspective  the need, compulsion if any towards having one more God in our midst versus the perceived adverse effects of too much focus on building a new Temple while adhering to the set norms as practiced hitherto.

There has been instances of publicizing the name of Goddess Shri Eknatheshwari as Kuladevatha of Devadigas and pamphlets / handbills to that effect were also distributed all over the places including in the Cities of Mumbai & Pune.

Subsequently, during 2013, a Charitable Social institution of Devadigas highlighted the name of Shri Eknatheswari as Kuladevatha of Devadigas through their Annual Report. On enquiry it was told about the ‘Asta Mangala Prashne’ and its revelation of Devadigas Kuladevatha’s name ie Shri Ekanateshwari.

As this was creating confusion; no wonder many Devadigas will be in dilemma while continuing their devotion and worship to Lord Mahalingeshwara of their respective ‘AALADES’ (ಆಲಡೆ).

Added to this situation, an invitation with headline ‘Shri Ekantheshwari Devasthana’ ( Devadiga Samaja) were also distributed by office bearers and members of Shri Eknatheshwari Prachara Samithi Barkuru’.  

The process of identifying and accepting a particular Deity as Kuladevatha without the consensus of Devadigas ore naming some one as ‘KulaGuru’ and approaching Astrologers/Vidwans,  may not stand in good stead in progressive thinking.  Its is universal fact that Devadigas have their ‘AALDES’ at Kavatar, Nandalike, Hiriadka and elsewhere.
The main deity of all these ‘AALADES’ is mostly Lord Mahalingeshwara or in his other form like Swamy Veerabhadra at Hiriadka. Our fore-fathers were all devotees of these  ‘AALADES’ and their faith in those were firm.  The same tradition and convention continued to present generation as well. We devadiga brothers should re-think from accepting/ choosing Kuladevatha without the authentication and choosing a Deity / an Angel in place of Lord Mahalingeswara should not be on the vague prediction or some other means. ‘Stala Purana’ / ‘Prashasana’/ Govt. Records, if any may be considered as proof for convincing ourselves.

It would be wise to have ‘Gobal Devadiga Conference’ convened and the particular matter could be deliberated & discussed to its spirit & faith. Let us not give room for unwanted gossip since places of worship appears to have been commercialized now a days and a set of people reaping the benefits. So to say, our ‘Ramayana & Mahabharatha are considered as scriptures but not History.

Under these circumstances and the fitness of things do not blindly accept the versions of some of the vested group and let us have open discussion to arrive at a logical perceptions of Goddess Sri Ekanatheswari.
